Ferenc Pusztai producer and the KMH Film  

KMH Film and Ferenc Pusztai has gained significant experience in international co-productions both as majority and minority party.

Earning a BA from Motion Picture and Media and Master’s Degree as Creative Producer at the Metropolitan University of Budapest Pusztai also participated in International workshops for Producers and now is a member of EAVE and ACE, and attended the EP2C program.

Several feature films were created in KMH FILM’s workshop, among others *Fresh Air* (2006) and *Adrienn Pál* (2010) by Ágnes Kocsis, both premiered at Cannes,*The Investigator* (2008) by Attila Gigor  premiered in Karlovy Vary in the Official Competition, *Czukor Show* by Tamás Dömötör which was selected in to the Official Competition in the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival and *Dear Betrayed Friend* by Sára Cserhalmi. Each of them gained huge appreciation worldwide, winning more than 25 festival prizes including ‘A’ category ones and FIPRESCI awards.

KMH FILM’s shorts are also represent the quality Pusztai always insists to, *Forrest* by György Mór Kárpáti was nominated at the Berlin International Film Festival for Golden Berlin Bear in 2011, and Gábor Fabriciusz’s *Skinner* was selected in to Toronto International Film Festival’s Official Competition – Short Cuts International – in 2014.

As producer Ferenc Pusztai always sticks to the high professional level of his projects, KMH Film’s upcoming works are continuously participants on widely appreciated international trainings, project development programmes and co-production forums even orverseas (No Borders, Cinemart, SOURCES2, SOS, Les Arcs, Cinelink for instance). He received the Producer of the Year Award on both of the 41st and the 42nd Hungarian Film Week and Pusztai is also a member of the European Film Academy.

In 2011 his feature project in development *Afterlife* by writer/director Virág Zomborácz won the MEDIA European Talent Award for Best European Project during the 64th Cannes Film Festival. *Afterlife* was completed in 2014 and was the opening film of the East of the West Competition in Karlovy Vary IFF in the same year.

Pusztai’s collaboration with acclaimed director György Pálfi *Free Fall* won three prizes in Karlovy Vary IFF in 2014, Best Director, Special Jury Prize and the Europe Cinemas Label award.

Both *Afterlife* and *Free Fall* were invited to International Film Festivals representing KMH FILM and Pusztai.

 

The first Hungarian-Romanian co-production of Pusztai is *Weekend* which was released in September, 2015.

 

After the great success of *The Investigation* Pusztai’s 2nd collaboration with Attila Gigor, *Well*, was released in September, 2016.

Pusztai and KMH Film are constantly working on international co-production projects such as *The Voice* by György Pálfi. *The Voice* has been developed at Torino Film Lab and also won the support of Creative Europe’s (MEDIA) Single Project and the ARTE Prize in Les Arcs.  KMH Film’s co-production is from Canada and the *The Voice* was shot during the summer of 2016, 35 days in Toronto, 4 days in Las Vegas and 11 days in Budapest.

*Laiko – Gipsy in Space* by Balázs Lengyel was developed with Sources2, and this project was also sot in the summer of 2016 in Budapest and numerous location in the Countryside. *Till Death* currently is in pre-production with the support of HNFF. This will mark the first collaboration between Ferenc Pusztai and Attila Árpa as Producer – Director.

 

2nd year in a row the Hungarian National Film Fund appointed Pusztai as one of the 5 jury members in their Incubator Program, focusing on young filmmakers directorial debut.

 

The latest coproduction from the KMH Film is the OUT by György Kristof was premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regards section this year.
